LOWDHAM BOOK FESTIVAL

Lowdham Book Festival is the biggest literature event in the East Midlands, which runs for eight days every summer in the small village of Lowdham, Nottinghamshire. In addition to the summer festival we organise a themed winter weekend, a film weekend and a number of one off events. Every festival since we started, nine years ago, has included storytelling - ranging from family events through to large set-piece performances and dedicated storytelling evenings. We have often included storytelling as part of other events too - including a retelling of The Odyssey with the Coen Brothers film "Oh brother, where art thou?", and some crime storytelling as part of a crime fiction weekend. We use community venues, a marquee and local pubs. There is one storyteller living in the village, Eve Baguley and another, Ncky Rafferty, living just round the corner and both have been involved in the Festival as well as many acts from elsewhere.
